December...A time to celebrate Christ.

Finally, the calendar flips to the last page of the year! And the first snow falls. December is here.

The tree is up, Christmas cards are ordered, presents are wrapped, Christmas music is playing, and goodies are in the process of being made.

Oh December how I love you! You are filled with celebrations, traditions, family, good food, snow, and my favorite, the sweet celebration and remembrance of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

However, in the midst of the gift buying and party going, the birth of Jesus can quickly slip our minds.  I know I've been guilty of it.  I'm not one to advocate throwing out the gift giving, the tree decorating, and the family gatherings in order to be able to focus completely on the birth of Christ, but I am one to encourage us to remember and celebrate Jesus as we do our Christmas festivities.

As we look at Christmas lights, remember that Jesus is the true Light of the world. As we give gifts, remember we can give generously because as Christians, we have received the ultimate Gift and thus all of our needs have been met.  As we put up our tree, remember that Christ died on a tree as the penalty for our sins.  As the beautiful snow falls, remember how Christ has washed away our sins white as snow!

Enjoy these things and celebrate Christ through them! In this month (and in the other 11 months), let's seek to remember Christ in whatever we do.
